For years this was my profile pic on various social media and message services, but today I got contacted by a student’s dad via whatsapp (didn’t bother to hide my number when I called him yesterday).
Before responding I thought that something a bit more.... boooooooring, and maybe even actually looking like me would make a better first impression.
Growing pains! Another part of my youth gone. Le sigh.

Adult life sucks sometimes, I guess. I was about to go on my way to have a so called
difficult
conversation (for the other, not for me) when I noticed that this hot weather had resulted in me wearing a polo shirt with palm trees. Maybe not the most professional attire. So back to my closet I went.

A slim fit polo shirt with short sleeves, plain color (off white) with hardly contrasting (light grey) palm trees. Perfect for playing tourist. Not very professional.
My very German and thus very formal girlfriend sometimes frowns when I wear it. So I wear it as often as I can when she’s around. While our passports tell us we are adults, it doesn’t mean we have to act like it all the time. I’ve learned that when you pick your fights right you can still get away with a lot of benign adolescence.
